Rain Plays Spoilsport: KKR vs PBKS Ends Without Result At Eden Gardens
The IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens ended without a result due to rain. Punjab's openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, set a strong foundation with a 120-run partnership, leading to a total of 201/4. However, rain halted KKR's chase after just one over, resulting in both teams sharing a point.
Match number 44 of IPL 2025 saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first.
First Innings:
Opening the innings for Punjab were Prabhsimran Singh and young sensation Priyansh Arya. Both openers gave their team a flying start, adding 56 runs in the first 6 overs. They continued their aggressive approach, building a strong 120-run partnership for the first wicket.
Priyansh Arya scored a quickfire 69 runs off 35 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant knock of 83 runs off just 49 deliveries, smashing 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Captain Shreyas Iyer played a handy cameo, remaining unbeaten on 25 runs off 15 balls. Glenn Maxwell, who was brought back into the playing XI in place of Marcus Stoinis, failed once again and was dismissed for just 7 runs. Marco Jansen, who was promoted up the batting order, managed only 3 runs.
Josh Inglis chipped in with 11 runs off 6 balls. Thanks to the strong start and decent finish, Punjab Kings posted a competitive total of 201/4 at the end of 20 overs.
For KKR, Vaibhav Arora was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Andre Russell also picked up a wicket each.
Now, KKR needed 202 runs to win from their 20 overs.
Second Innings:
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine opened the innings for KKR. However, rain interrupted the match after just one over of play.
Despite waiting for a long time, the rain didn’t stop, and eventually, the match was called off. As a result, both teams were awarded one point each.

With this shared point, Punjab Kings now have 11 points and are placed 4th on the table. KKR, on the other hand, remain at the 7th spot with just 7 points so far this season.
