Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan Back in BCCI's Central Contracts for 2024-25 Season
The BCCI has released the list of central contracts for 2024-25, with the return of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are placed in the A+ category. Many young players have also got contracts for the first time. Iyer and Kishan, who were dropped last year due to disciplinary issues, have been included in the B and C category respectively.
The BCCI has announced the annual central contracts for the 2024-25 season with the return of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Both of them were excluded from the list for 2023-24. Only four players have made it to the A+ category of new contracts which include Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Many young players like Rajat Patidar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana etc. have also been given their first contracts.
The central contract is divided into four categories: A+, A, B, C, depending on the performance of the players and participation in all three formats. After retiring from T20 Internationals, there was speculation that Rohit, Virat and Jadeja would be out of the A+ category, but the board retained all three.
The duo of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer was excluded from the previous central contracts by the BCCI due to some disciplinary issues. Iyer has already made a comeback to the Indian team in the ODI format, while Ishan Kishan has given promising signs in IPL 2025. Earlier this year, Iyer played a key role in India's Champions Trophy-winning campaign. While Iyer has been placed in B category, Kishan has been added to Grade C.
