Delhi Capitals Secure Third Win, Beat Gujarat Giants by 6 Wickets in WPL 2025
The 10th match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) was played between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Delhi Capitals won the match by 6 wickets. For Delhi Capitals, Jess Jonassen scored a half-century while batting brilliantly.
Chasing a target of 128, Jonassen took full advantage of batting at number three and scored an unbeaten 61 off 32 balls, while Shafali Verma scored 44 runs off 27 balls. Thanks to which Delhi Capitals achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 15.1 overs. There were still 29 balls left in the innings.
The main role of this victory of Delhi Capitals was played by their bowlers. Delhi Capitals prevented Gujarat Giants from scoring a big score. Gujarat's team could only score 127 runs losing 9 wickets. Delhi Capitals won their third match of the season against Gujarat Giants and reached the top of the points table.
Delhi Capitals started poorly to chase the target. Captain Meg Lanning was dismissed for just three runs. However, Shafali Verma and Jonassen shared a 74-run partnership for the second wicket to bring Delhi Capitals to victory.
After the first wicket fell, Shefali played carefully in the first two overs. However, whenever he got a loose ball, she hit fiercely and played shots freely.
Jonassen looked in good rhythm at the other end. He slowly carried on with her innings. The Australian all-rounder hit boundaries off consecutive balls from Dottin, Gardner, Meghna Singh and Kashvi.

Gujarat's batting was poor from the beginning. Within 20 runs, four batsmen of the team had returned to the pavilion. Shikha Pandey takes wickets off consecutive balls. Although she failed to make a hat-trick, Gujarat had already suffered losses.
