Spend More Time On Crease: Yograj Singh's Advice For Virat Kohli Ahead Of Champions Trophy

Yograj Singh Urges Kohli to Spend More Time at Crease Amid Struggles

The Indian star batter Virat Kohli is going through a rough form in recent times. He struggled a lot in scoring runs in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and now that phase continues in the three-match ODI series against England. He missed the first match of the series due to a knee injury and was replaced by Shreyas Iyer in the match. He returned in the second match, where he failed to perform with the bat and went back to the pavilion after scoring just 5 runs off 8 balls.

Amidst all this, former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh, who is known for his explosive remarks against players, came up with advice for struggling player Virat Kohli. In recent times, even a small child knows how to dismiss Kohli; he struggled a lot while facing outside-off balls in the BGT. To which Australia utilized and made the series to their name after almost decades.

In a recent video shared by Yograj Singh on his YouTube channel, he stated that

"I believe it's the shots that usually get him out. Virat Kohli has been playing the cover drive brilliantly, but it's not working for him currently; his coach might know better. If he plays 2,000 to 3,000 balls, he'll be back to his old self. He should spend more time at the crease than he is currently. If any player is struggling with form or not feeling well, they should spend time with their teammates and talk to them."

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also went through a rough patch in recent times, but he made his comeback in the second match of the series. He scored 119 runs off 90 balls against England. Now, all the eyes are on King Kohli's comeback. It will be interesting to see if he is able to come up with a good knock or again struggles to score runs.

The third match of the series will be played on February 12, Wednesday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
