Ravindra Jadeja Credits 'Domestic Cricket' For Stellar ODI Performance Against England

Ravindra Jadeja Attributes ODI Success to recent domestic cricket performances

The star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja credited his recent form and consistency in the ODI to domestic cricket. He was the only player who had not just made his attendance in the Ranji Trophy but, with whole sincerity, played the matches, which was the result he got in the ongoing series. In Ranji Trophy he helped his team win the match against Delhi by taking 12 wickets, which made Saurashtra a commanding 10-wicket win. He also played that game against Assam but focused more on his batting rather than bowling.

The 36-year-old was amongst the players who played an ODI match during the ODI World Cup 2023, and after that, there was a big gap in this kind of format. Due to his brilliant performance and practice in domestic cricket, he played a crucial role in both matches of the ongoing series, taking 3 wickets each. In the second ODI, he maintained the pressure on bowlers, which didn't let them put up a high score.

"Domestic matches helped a lot" - Ravindra Jadeja

At the post-match press conference, Jadeja stated that it feels great after two years since the World Cup. He credited domestic cricket for quick adaptation and performance in the format.

"It feels really good, especially after almost two years—since the World Cup. Coming back into this format requires quick adaptation, but I believe the domestic matches I played helped me a lot."

Further, he said that domestic cricket helped him maintain rhythm in the game.

"In those matches, I bowled over 30 overs, which helped me maintain my rhythm. Even in Tests, I tried to maintain the same line and length in ODIs. The rhythm remained intact because the break wasn't too long. So, I think playing domestic games benefitted me in maintaining my rhythm."

The third ODI between India and England will be played on February 12, Sunday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The last match will be like a formality as India has already clinched the three-match ODI series to their name 2-0; it will be a good practice for the Men in Blue for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
