Jacob Bethell Out Of Champions Trophy 2025, Tom Banton To Join Team For Final ODI
The England batter Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of the final ODI against India and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a hamstring injury. He also missed the second ODI match against the Men in Blue. In the first ODI, Bethell played a brilliant knock, scoring 51 runs off 64 balls. However, the result didn't turn out to be in his team's favor; India won the match by 4 wickets. After winning the second ODI, India is leading the three-match series in Cuttack by 2-0.
Jos Buttler, after the second ODI, gave an update on Bethell and said,
"I'm pretty sure he's been ruled out of the Champions Trophy, to be honest. That's really disappointing for him; obviously he played nicely the other day and has been one of the really exciting players, so it's a shame that the injury is going to rule him out."
Although no official statement has been released about Bethell's condition, it is being stated that Tom Banton will remain as a backup.
If we look at the stats of Banton, then he has played six ODIs, scoring 134 runs at an average of 26.80, having the highest score of 58. It is being reported that the 26-year-old will be landing in India on Monday and joining the team for the final match of the series in Ahmedabad.
The last match of the three-match ODI series between India and England will be played on February 12, Wednesday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
