Rachin Ravindra Leaves Field Bloodied After Injury in ODI Against Pakistan
On Saturday, New Zealand's young batsman Rachin Ravindra suffered a serious injury while fielding in the second ODI against Pakistan. During Pakistan's batting, when Rachin was trying to take the catch of Khushdil Shah at backward square leg, the ball went straight to his face. The incident happened during the 38th over when Khushdil swept Michael Bracewell to backward square leg, where Ravindra was ready to take the catch. But due to the lights, the ball missed and went straight to his mouth.
Rachin fell on the ground at the same time and started bleeding from his head. The medical team arrived on the field and took him out of the field. His face was covered with towels when he was being taken off the field. Khushdil escaped losing his wicket but the entire stadium was shocked by Rachine's injury.
New Zealand batted first and scored a total of 330 runs. Glenn Phillips scored a century, while Mitchell Santner took three wickets, thanks to which New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 78 runs in the first match of the Tri-Nations series. Phillips had scored 106 runs in 74 balls, which included 7 sixes and 6 fours. Daryl Mitchell also played an important innings of 81 runs and Kane Williamson scored 58 runs. Bracewell also scored 31 runs off 23 balls with the help of three sixes. Chasing a target of 331 runs, the hosts were all out for just 252 runs in 47.5 overs.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner was very impressed with Phillips' brilliant innings, due to which the Kiwi team was able to score a strong score. "Glenn's brilliant innings and his partnership with Bracewell gave us the momentum we needed," Santner said during the presentation after the match. We were looking at a score around 280-300 at one point. Pakistan's bowlers bowled really well and we needed a special innings from Glenn to take us to a score of 330. "
