Sanjay Manjrekar Raises Concerns Over Rohit Sharma's Struggling Form
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar showed concerns over skipper Rohit Sharma's current form. This came after another dry run in the first match of the ODI against England, where he managed to score only 2 runs. Before the three-match ODI series against England, he was also seen struggling with the bat in red-ball cricket. Due to his poor form, he even made a decision to bench himself in the last Test against Australia.
The poor show of Rohit continues in the ODIs against England; he was able to play only 7 balls in the first game, scoring 2 runs and getting dismissed by Saqib Mahmood.
In a recent interview, Manjrekar said that Rohit will be disappointed with the way he got out. He highlighted the point by stating that if Rohiti struggled to score runs or get a big score, then there is a problem. ODI is the best format for any batters batting in the top three and getting runs.
"He'll be disappointed with the way he got out. Clearly there is pressure. If in 50-over cricket he struggles to get runs or get a big score, then we have a problem. I maintain that this is the best format for any batters batting in the top three to get runs and come back into form. If we don't get to see the best of Rohit in this 3-match series and Champions Trophy, then there is a problem."
However, Rohit's early dismissal didn't let anything happen to India's win in the first ODI. Other players handled the responsibility very well and won the match very comfortably by four wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
