Jos Buttler's Captaincy Style Wins Praise From Michael Vaughan Despite Series Loss To India

England's Jos Buttler Earns Praise for Captaincy Despite Losing to India

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was quite impressed by Jos Buttler's response to the concussion substitute controversy in the T20I series against India. The England skipper did not hesitate in putting up his opinion regarding the concussion controversy after India's win in the fourth T20I. In the fifth match held on February 2, Sunday, at the Wankhede Stadium, he gave a witty response after winning the toss and opted to bowl first. He stated that they will be going with four impact subs in the game, which will be Rehan Ahmed, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Smith, and Gus Atkinson. The visitors were not pleased by Harshit Rana coming as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube, and there were many controversies on this topic.

Vaughan praised Buttler's captaincy in the series and said he saw a different style of captaincy from him in white-ball cricket.

"I think Jos Buttler's captaincy has been excellent in this series; he's been creative, and it is a different style of captaincy than we have seen from Jos in white-ball cricket, and also in the way that he is speaking now. It is great for us in the media because he is going to bring a line or two from now on."

Further, he said,

"I like it. I think what Jos is going to bring with his relationship with Baz McCullum is a little bit more on the front foot chat. I think he'd be more than happy to throw a few lines out to the press, which is great. England was hard done to in the last game; I don't care what anybody says. But they still had enough to win that game."

England lost the five-match T20I series against India by 1-4, which states that Brendon McCullum's role as England's white-ball coach didn't start on a good note. However, now they will be focusing more on the upcoming ODI against India, which will kick off on February 6, Thursday.
