India Clinch Series 4-1 With Dominating 150-Run Win Over England In 5th T20I
The fifth Test of the series between India and England was played on February 2, Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. England won the toss and opted to bowl first in the final match of the series. India came up with one change in the squad that was Mohammad Shami in place of Arshdeep Singh while England brought back Mark Wood.
Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma started the innings for India. Sanju started with a six on the very first ball of the over but later got dismissed in the same manner as he got in the whole series, went back to the pavilion scoring 16 runs off 7 balls, smashing two sixes and a four. After his wicket, Abhishek and Tilak Varma (24) joined hands, but Abhishek had different plans for the bowlers. He smashed the England bowlers with his power-hitting sixes, scoring 135 runs off just 54 balls, hitting 13 sixes and seven fours. Shivam Dube (30), Hardik Pandya (9), Rinku Singh (9), and Axar Patel (15) all contributed to put up a score of 247 runs for the opposition.
The Indian bowlers performed extremely well in the final match of the five-match series. They bundled the visitors team to 97 all out, sealing the series to their name 4-1. Mohammad Shami was once again back in his original form, taking three wickets. Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube, and Abhishek Sharma took two wickets each, and Ravi Bishnoi took a single wicket.
India won the match by a big margin of 150 runs, all thanks to Abhishek Sharma's power-hitting knock of 135 runs. Varun Chakravarthy was awarded the 'Player of the Series' award as he ended the series with 14 wickets in five games.
