BCCI Awards Rs 5 Crore to U-19 Women's Team for World Cup Victory

On 2 February 2024 (Sunday), India's Under-19 women's T20 team won the World Cup. Now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a reward of Rs 5 crore for the winning team and their support staff. The team was captained by Nikki Prasad, who remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the final played at the Bayuimas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, the Indian team won the title by defeating South Africa by 9 wickets. The top officials of the BCCI praised the outstanding achievements of the players.

In a statement, the BCCI said,

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extends its heartiest congratulations to the Indian U-19 Women's Team for successfully defending their title at the ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025 to be held in Malaysia. "

He further said,

In recognition of this remarkable achievement, the BCCI announced a cash award of Rs 5 crore for the winning team and support staff led by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer. "

BCCI President Roger Binny also congratulated the team and the support staff led by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer. In an official release, Binny said,

"Congratulations to our girls for retaining the U-19 Women's World Cup. It has been an exemplary campaign, in which she remained unstoppable throughout. We spoke about her performance at the Naman Awards last night and today she has made us all proud. "

He further said,

"This trophy reflects the growth of women's cricket in India and I am extremely happy to see each and every member shine in this tournament. I would like to once again congratulate the entire team, coaches and support staff for the superb performance. "

In the final on Sunday, South Africa came out to bat first and were all out for just 82 runs. Gongadi Trisha took three wickets for India while the other bowlers also made important contributions. Chasing the target, India lost the wicket of wicketkeeper Kamalini Gunalan early but Trisha and Sanika Chalke soon chased down the target. Trisha remained unbeaten on 44 off 33 balls, while Sanika scored 26 off 22 balls. India won the match in the 12th over with 9 wickets remaining.
