Meet Himanshu Sangwan: The Pacer Who Bowled Out Virat Kohli in Ranji Trophy
In the match between Delhi and Railways in the 7th round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Virat Kohli returned to the tournament after twelve years. However, his comeback was not as good, as the star batsman was dismissed very early in the first innings on the second day. The fast bowler who clean bowled Kohli was Himanshu Sangwan.
When Sangwan came to bowl the 28th over, Kohli hit a brilliant straight drive on his second ball and hit a four. On the very next ball, Sangwan bowled the ball at the base and broke Kohli's defense and bowled him out.
Himanshu Sangwan was born in 1995 in Najafgarh, Delhi. This is the same place where former Indian team batsman Virender Sehwag also had his house. Himanshu played cricket in the under-19 age group, though for his first-class career he turned to the Railways. Himanshu has played 23 first-class matches in his career so far, in which he has taken 77 wickets at an average of 19.92. The 29-year-old has taken a total of six 4-wicket hauls as well as three 5-wicket hauls. His best bowling performance is taking 7 wickets for 81 runs.
His stats in the white-ball cricket format are not so good. He has taken 21 wickets in 17 List A matches, while in seven T20I matches, he has taken just five wickets. His best performance in white-ball cricket is 4 for 44.
