Fan Breaches Security To Touch Virat Kohli's Feet During Ranji Trophy Match
Cricket is celebrated like a festival in India, which was quite obvious from the incident that took place in the Arun Jaitley Stadium on January 30, Thursday. The Indian star batter Virat Kohli has an unmatched aura among the cricket fans all over the world, and the crowd at the stadium in Delhi was the proof of that. Thousands of fans reached the ground early in the morning for the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways. This is the first time a large number of crowds emerged to watch the domestic cricket match.
The crowd was eager to see a glimpse of Kohli, and there's nothing new in cricket that a fan breached the security to meet their favorite player. The same thing was captured in today's clash when a fan breached the security, ran onto the field, and touched Kohli's feet before he was caught by the security officials. Security rushed onto the field and took the intruder with them, but Kohli's gesture towards him was very calm and composed. The incident occurred in the 12th over of the match when Delhi was fielding. Delhi's skipper Ayush Badoni won the toss and opted to bowl first.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) expected around 10,000 fans for Kohli's return, but as the time passed, the crowd was seen in a large amount. After that, officials confirmed that more than 15,000 fans are watching the match in the stadium.
The 36-year-old player last played a Ranji match against Uttar Pradesh at Ghaziabad in 2012. Despite this much crowd in the stadium, both the teams kept their focus on the game. As of now, Delhi's bowlers have reduced Railways to 154/5. Siddhant Sharma and Money Grewal took two wickets early in the morning session, and Navdeep Saini took a wicket for the team.
