The 22-year-old Tilak Varma performed brilliantly in the second T20I against England and played a remarkable knock of 72* runs to lead India to a thrilling victory in Chennai. After winning this match, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Bowling first, India restricted England to 165 runs. Axar Patel picked up the crucial wickets of Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone. Chasing the target, India's Tilak Verma scored 72 runs in 55 balls and won the match for the team. During his innings, he made crucial partnerships with the lower-order batsmen.

Washington Sundar scored 26 runs, while Ravi Bishnoi scored 9 runs in five balls. Arshdeep Singh also tried to make the required contribution with the bat but was dismissed in an attempt to hit in Adil Rashid's over. After Arshdeep's wicket, the camera turned to head coach Gautam Gambhir and his reaction went viral. A slight smile was also seen on Gautam Gambhir's face.

After this, India had lost eight wickets and the match could have gone in England's but Tilak and Ravi Bishnoi stayed on the crease and saved the match.

Indian bowlers Varun Chakravarthy (2/38), Washington Sundar (1/9) and Abhishek Sharma (1/12) bowled well, and the England team couldn't make a comeback after being on 26/2. England's last-order batsman Brydon Carse scored 31 runs in 17 balls and took the team to a respectable score. Carse also performed brilliantly with the ball for his team and took three wickets for 29 runs in four overs.
