Shardul Thakur Responds To IPL 2025 Snub, Aims For Better Future
The Indian fast bowler Shardul Thakur did not find any buyers in the IPL 2025 mega auction. In IPL 2024, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) but was released by the franchise. After that he landed in the auction, no team bid for him in the mega auction. Cricket fans and experts were surprised when the two-time IPL winner Shardul remained unsold in the auction. After the IPL snub, Shardul Thakur talked about focusing on the future and moving forward.
Shardul Thakur is currently playing for Mumbai's Ranji team and is part of the match against Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the media after the first day of the match, he said,
"One must forget the past and move on. The past cannot be changed, but the future can be made better by focusing on the present. ”
It is clear from his statement that he is not too bothered about going unsold in the IPL and wants to focus on his next cricketing challenges.
Shardul Thakur's last few seasons of IPL have not been special. His economy rate was around 10 runs per over, and the pace of taking wickets also slowed down. It is believed that the teams thought it was right to avoid betting on them because of this. His performance with the bat in the recent IPL season was average. In such a situation, teams may not be able to fit him into their scheme.
SHARDUL THAKUR'S IPL JOURNEY
Shardul Thakur started his IPL career with Punjab Kings. He then became a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant, joined CSK in 2018, and was a key player on this team till 2021.
• For CSK: Picked up 60 wickets and played a key role in making the team champions in 2018 and 2021.
• Moved to Delhi Capitals in 2022, but his performance there was mediocre.
• Played for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023 but did not get much success.
In his IPL career, Shardul played a total of 95 matches and took 94 wickets. However, no team could buy him in IPL 2025, but by performing brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy, he would like to show his ability to everyone again.
