Sanjiv Goenka Addresses Criticism, Calls Himself, Rishabh Pant 'Misunderstood'

Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant 'Misunderstood,' Says LSG Owner in Response to Criticism

The RPSG group chairman and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka made a big claim, stating that he and the franchise's new skipper, Rishabh Pant, are 'misunderstood' people. Last year in IPL 2024, many statements were made on Goenka for his rude behavior against KL Rahul after their defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. After this, Rahul wasn't retained by LSG, and now he'll be leading Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025.

LSG acquired the services of Pant in the upcoming IPL season for a hefty amount of Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in the history of IPL. A few days back, the wicketkeeper-batter was announced as the franchise's skipper.

In a video shared by Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel, he asked Goenka how he dealt with all the criticism that came in his way. Goenka responded by stating that,

"He (Pant) is a misunderstood cricketer, and I am a misunderstood owner. You have to face it. There are situations when you counter it, and there are situations when you say you don't want to counter it at all. Time will automatically prove what is right and what is wrong."

Further, Goenka said that a narrative gets built because of PR, but it doesn't matter in the long run.

"A narrative is built; someone has a PR, so let it get built. It doesn't matter. I suppose it does matter, but it doesn't really matter in the long run. So, don't let it impact you."
