Rishabh Pant Named Captain Of Lucknow Super Giants For IPL 2025
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named Rishabh Pant as their new skipper for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Indian star wicketkeeper-batsman was the most expensive player in the mega auction of 2025 for Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka at an event held in Kolkata clears the news on Rishabh Pant being the captain of the franchise.
MOST EXPENSIVE PLAYER IN IPL HISTORY
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants left no stone unturned to get Pant in their team. After a tough bid with Delhi Capitals, LSG spent Rs 27 crore and added Pant to their team. With this, he became the most expensive player in IPL history.
The announcement of Rishabh Pant as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants was made during a press conference in Kolkata on 20 January 2025. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was also present on the occasion. Talking about Pant, he said,
"We had already decided on a budget of Rs 27 crore for Rishabh Pant. We wanted to have him on our team at any cost. Rishabh is going to be the best player of the entire IPL, not just of LSG. His thinking, connection to the team, and passion are of a different level. I see a leader in him, and he may be the greatest captain the IPL has ever produced. ”

Rishabh Pant has already captained in the IPL. Prior to this, he has been the captain of Delhi Capitals.
