Indian Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Announced: Shami Back, Gill named Vice Captain
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced India's 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This year, this mega event is going to be held in Pakistan and Dubai. Rohit Sharma will return to limited-overs cricket as captain with this tournament.
The Champions Trophy is going to be held after eight years, that too in a hybrid model, in which the matches of the Indian team will be held in Dubai while the matches of the other teams will be held in Pakistan. India will start their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. After this, the group stage matches of the Indian team will be against Pakistan and then New Zealand.
The last edition of the Champions Trophy was held in 2017 and the final was played between India and Pakistan at the Oval Stadium in England. In that match, India had to face a big defeat against Pakistan. Earlier in 2013, the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In the 2002 edition, the final was canceled due to rain, due to which India became joint champions with Sri Lanka.
India's squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja.
