Vidit, Anand, Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa's Dance Video Takes Social Media by Storm
On Sunday, five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand hosted Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa along with Vidit Gujrathi and his fiancée. All the grandmasters were seen wearing traditional attire, the video of which is now becoming quite viral on social media. Though all the players were hesitant initially, they soon followed the lead of their mentor Anand and then danced.
Vidit had announced in November last year that he was going to marry Nidhi Katia. Posting on social media, he wrote, "Now it's official! I'm getting married soon!
Vidit played a key role in India's victory in Budapest in September. The 30-year-old was in charge of Board 4 and scored 7.5 out of 10 points for the country.
RB Ramesh said in an interview,
"Vidit's performance has been generally good. Some tournaments were bad forhim. But in general, his performance has been good in most of the recent tournaments. Here he played very positive chess. "
He further said,
"Overall, it's a very good result of them. He has won some crucial games for India on the fourth board. "
In recent years, when this spark of genius has repeatedly been extinguished without igniting anything bigger, self-doubt began to creep in. Sometimes a thought would come up, 'Is this worth doing?' but I decided, I have to do this for the next few years. There was no such struggle in my mind that I should stop playing," he said.
"One of such bitter bullets of self-doubt came at the Chess Olympiad in 2022, when the India A team finished fourth with Vidit. Something was wrong! Something was fundamentally wrong that I had to fix. I knew I was better than what the results were telling me about," said RB Ramesh.
