Andy Flower Breaks Silence On Virat Kohli Leading RCB In IPL 2025
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is approaching soon, and with that, the news of Virat Kohli being the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is spreading like fire. Faf du Plessis is no longer part of the RCB team after the IPL 2025 mega auction, which shows that the franchise is in need of a skipper. According to many reports, it is being stated that Kohli might return as the skipper of the franchise for the upcoming season. After these intensifying reports, RCB's head coach, Andy Flower, came forward and broke silence on all these reports.
Flower said that as of now no decision has been taken on this topic, and it's going to be a new era that they are heading into. He is sure that the anticipation will be good for the fans.
"Well, you're going to have to wait for the outcome. It's a new era that we are going into, the start of a three-year cycle, and I'm sure the anticipation will be good for you."
Further, he stated that the decision regarding the captaincy is still pending.
"You can ask me as often as you like, but that communication has not happened yet."
Kohli took over the captaincy of RCB in 2013 and led the team to the runner-up spot in the 2016 tournament. He decided to step down from captaincy in 2021 but still played a crucial role in the field as a leader and player both. He even captained the team in 2023 after du Plessis was injured. He has become a pillar for the franchise since the time he joined and is involved in important decisions on and off the field.
In the IPL 2024, Kohli ended the tournament by scoring 741 runs in 15 matches, becoming the highest run-scorer in the tournament. As the franchise gears up for a new season, they have made several changes in the squad, adding some high-profile names. Now, they will be looking forward to winning the upcoming IPL 2025 title, which they have been looking for many years.
