Navjot Singh Sidhu Slams Trolls Targeting Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma
Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu came in support of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after they went through a poor form in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both the star players are facing a lot of criticism from everywhere after India lost the series by a margin of 1-3 to Australia, which also resulted in their exit from the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) final. In the series, Virat scored 190 runs in nine innings despite scoring a century in Perth. The main reason he is under the radar of everyone is that he got dismissed in the same style in the whole series. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma had a below-average outing in the series.
Navjot Singh Sidhu backed both star players, stating that if anyone is in bad form for 2 months, you can't delete them. Everyone fails, and it will take just one match to come back.
"If someone is in bad form for 2 months, you can't delete them. I know you can't rest on your laurels; you have to refresh them, but you have to give allowance. Mark Taylor failed for 1.5 years; (Mohammed) Azharuddin failed; (Sourav) Ganguly said that I can fail in 8 innings, but it just takes one to come back."
"They won a World Cup 6 months ago" - Navjot Singh Sidhu
Sidhu also said that they are the only ones who won the World Cup 6 months ago, and no one has the right to target two and ignore others.
"They won you a World Cup 6 months ago, and now, you have ODI cricket throughout. You just can't target the two and ignore others. Who showed consistency with the red ball? Blaming is the easiest thing; throwing stones is easy, but there are a few who build homes with stones thrown at them, and these two are prime examples."
"People even drag his wife" - Navjot Singh Sidhu
Further, Sidhu said it's not the first time Kohli faced all this; people don't stop here; they even drag his wife in between, which is very wrong.
"It's not the first time Kohli faced criticism; people even drag his wife. It's wrong; we must respect our heroes. Keep patience. Everyone goes through a rough period."
"He (Kohli) goes home, he sees his videos, he will realise his bat is going far away from his body. He will find a solution. Rohit needs to work on his fitness because he is a brilliant player."
