Sam Konstas Calls Virat Kohli His Idol Even After Fiery BGT Exchanges
The Australian young batter Sam Konstas gained many headlines among the fans during the Test matches in Melbourne and Sydney against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The reason he got this many headlines all over is because of his on-field incidents with Indian star players Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. In the Boxing Day Test he was seen in an on-field altercation with Kohli, and recently in the Sydney Test he was seen exchanging a few words with Bumrah. After the fiery exchange of words in the Sydney Test, Bumrah replied with his spell, taking the wicket of Usman Khawaja in the next ball. He made his debut in the Melbourne Test, smashing a half-century. Still, after all these incidents, he shocked everyone by stating Virat Kohli as his idol.
The 19-year-old revealed that after the Melbourne Test, he got the chance to talk with Kohli, where he stated to him that he idolises him.
"I had a little chat after the game telling him that I idolise him, and it is obviously a huge honour playing against him."
"When I did verse with him, I was like, wow, Virat Kohli is batting. He just had that presence about him, all the Indian crowd getting amongst it. Chanting his name. It was quite surreal."
Konstas also said that Virat is a very down-to-earth person and wished him best wishes if he gets picked for the Sri Lanka tour.
"He was very down to earth. A lovely person and just wishing me all the best, saying hopefully I go well on the tour of Sri Lanka, he said, If I am in."
Further, he stated that his family loves Virat, and he has idolised him from a very young age, also stating him as a legend of the game.
