Sanjay Manjrekar Amazed By Jasprit Bumrah's Aggressive Stance In Sydney Test
Team India stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah was seen showing a different side of his personality on Day 1 when he was involved in a verbal exchange with Sam Konstas. When the first day of the Sydney Test was about to end, both the players were seen exchanging a few words on the field. Konstas was in a urge to distract Bumrah with his words, but he stood on the ground firmly and delivered a spell, taking the wicket of Usman Khawaja. The day ended on a positive note for the Indian team.
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar was quite impressed by the aggression and attitude shown by Bumrah on Day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Test. The expression on the face of Bumrah showed that he wasn't pleased with the words that Konstas said to him from the non-striker's end. After all this fiery exchange, Bumrah replied with a fiery spell, taking the wicket of Khawaja, KL Rahul taking a catch at the second slip. The wicket of Khawaja was celebrated by the whole Indian team, with Virat Kohli being the most energetic as always in front of Konstas, which was needed to fire up the game.
Sanjay Manjrekar said,
"Yeah, they're all fired up, and it's great to see, right at the end of a long series, this kind of emotion. I mean, Bumrah has been phenomenal, and 'great' doesn't seem to be enough to describe his performance as a bowler. To see him fired up in this fashion is quite rare. Sam Konstas, there's something about him that gets under the skin of the Indian players. You saw Virat Kohli in the background as well, really fired up."
Further he said that if Bumrah is celebrating like this, then you know it is something special. Everyone needs to applaud the cricketers for their energy at the end of the series; it is also good to have someone like Washington Sundar and KL Rahul, who can be calm.
"If Bumrah is like this, you know it's something special. But all in all, you've got to applaud the cricketers for having this kind of energy at the end of a long series. Shubman Gill is fired up, and in contrast, it's good to have someone like Washington Sundar and KL Rahul being calm and calculated. India put up a target of 185 runs for Australia in the first innings, and Australia lost one wicket scoring 9 runs on the end of Day 1.
