Irfan Pathan Defends Rohit Sharma Amid Criticism, Calls for Resilience
The fifth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground starting January 3. The hosts took a 2-1 lead in the series after winning the MCG Test by 184 runs. The last test is very crucial for India.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma's performance in the ongoing BGT series has not been good at all. Rohit has not been able to play a single notable innings in this series so far. In the last five Test innings, Rohit's scores are 3, 6, 10, 3, and 9 . Due to Rohit's poor form, he is also facing a lot of criticism from the fans. Many people also say that Rohit should not be part of the playing XI of the last Test.
Recently, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has come out in support of Rohit Sharma and believes that Rohit should fight. Irfan Pathan wrote on X,
"In my personal opinion, Rohit Sharma should get out of this phase. I don't want him to get out of this phase. He has done a lot for Indian cricket, and I am sure he has the ability to change this era. This is the last and most important Test match of the series, and experience should come in handy. Whatever decisions should be taken after the series, they should come out."
Apart from this, Pathan also said during an interview that if India had to make any changes in the playing XI, then they should have done it before the MCG Test. If India now makes more changes in the SCG test, then they may have to face problems. At the same time, Pathan also said that he believes that Rohit Sharma is not in form right now but he should fight and come out of this phase.
