Aakash Chopra Questions Dressing Room Leaks Amid India's Test Series Struggles
Team India lost the Melbourne Test to Australia by a big margin of 184 runs; after that, many things came out from the Indian camp. The reports or news that are coming out of the camp are a bit concerning. Earlier some reports stated that the head coach, Gautam Gambhir, lashed out at a few players in the dressing room. The Indian team is now at a level where they have almost lost the series; the only chance left for them is to win the Sydney Test and make the series a draw. But the thing that comes out is who is leaking all this information from the dressing room and why?
A few days back, some reports were coming in that stated that Rohit Sharma might get dropped from the fifth test due to his poor performance. But now after Gautam Gambhir addressed the press conference, it is believed that he might get dropped from the team. He said that they will be deciding the play XI tomorrow after looking at the wicket.
"Senior players leak the information." - Aakash Chopra
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that the dressing room is like a family, and the conversations over there are never revealed to outsiders. The day it starts getting leaked, it means that the players are divided into groups because insecurity comes in and no one wants to discuss anything as it could be leaked.
"The dressing room is a sacred place, and it is likely family, and the conversations over there are never revealed to the outsiders. The day the leaks start happening, let me tell you, the players get divided into groups. The insecurity comes in, and no one wants to discuss anything as it could be leaked. It is always the senior players who leak the information, as juniors are scared and are too consumed with their thoughts. They don't want to be a part of the leaks."
Further, he said that,
"If the reports are true, it is not good. The reports also mention that a senior player is ready to become an interim captain of the team and help in the transition period. What is happening in Team India? The start of the New Year has started, and all is not well after the defeat in the fourth Test. All is not lost if the team wins the fifth Test; they can retain the BGT and even qualify for the WTC final. I know it is not in the hands of the team, but there is still a chance."
The fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is like a do-or-die match for the Indian team. If they lose the Sydney Test, then they will lose the series. They will be looking forward to winning the final Test to make the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series a draw.
