Navjot Sidhu Condemns Travis Head's Celebration After Rishabh Pant's Dismissal
India lost the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia by 184 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). One of the turning points in the game was the wicket of Rishabh Pant, which drew the game to the Aussies side. Pant was dismissed by the Australian star batter Travis Head, who is also the leading run scorer in the series. Mitchell Marsh took the catch of Pant, but the thing that caught everyone's attention was the Head's celebration after Pant's dismissal. This celebration of his was not appreciated by any Indian and was getting trolled for such a kind of celebration.
In the post-match presentation, the Australian skipper, Pat Cummins, cleared everything and explained what's the reason behind such a kind of celebration.
Cummins on Travis Head's celebration stated that,
"It's so hot, he's got to put it in a cup of ice. Yeah, that's what it is. So that's normally the running joke. But it was at the Gabba or somewhere he got a wicket as well. And just goes straight to the fridge, grabs a bucket of ice, puts his fingers in, and just walks in front of Lyno (Nathan Lyon). Just like that. Think it's very funny. So that's what it would have been, nothing else."
But as mentioned above, none of the Indians appreciated this act of star batter Travis Head; former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu slammed Head for his celebration. He stated this celebration is an insult to 1.5 billion Indians.
"Travis Head's obnoxious behavior during the Melbourne Test doesn't augur well for the gentleman's game and sets the worst possible example when there were kids, women, young & old, watching the game. This caustic conduct did not insult an individual but a nation of 1.5 billion Indians... stringent punishment that would serve as a deterrent for the future generations needs to be slapped on him so that no one dares follow suit!!"
