On Friday, India's explosive batsman Rinku Singh was named the captain of the Uttar Pradesh team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare one-day cricket tournament. He will be seen captaining a state level tournament for the first time. He will replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took charge of Uttar Pradesh in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Interestingly, Rinku Singh has been seen captaining before. Earlier this year, he captained the Meerut Mavericks. Rinku also won Meerut the UPT20 League title under his captaincy. Now he will definitely be very excited about his new role.

During an interview, Rinku said,

"It was a huge opportunity for me to lead Meerut Mavericks in the UPT20 League and I am happy that I was able to play my role well. I really enjoyed captaincy as it taught me a lot of new things. ’’

Rinku is part of Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL. Apart from Rinku, KKR retained Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy and Ramandeep Singh. Rinku has so far scored 1899 runs in 52 List A matches. Uttar Pradesh will play their first match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jammu and Kashmir on December 21.

If we talk about Rinku's international career, the 27-year-old has so far played 30 T20I matches and scored 507 runs, which included three fifties. Rinku's highest score in the format is 69*. He has also been a part of two ODI matches and scored 55 runs. He is yet to deliver a star performance in international cricket.
