Prithvi Shaw Responds to MCA Criticism with Mysterious 'FRIYAY' Instagram Post
Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has once again taken to social media to share his emotions, but this time his message is far more cryptic than the previous one that caused a stir. Shaw stated in the Instagram story that people have opinions without sufficient facts, but he didn’t indicate who the message was meant for.
“If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts. ‘FRIYAY.’”
This post from Shaw is far more confrontational in tone than the previous one, in which he bemoaned being left out of the Mumbai List A squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy despite his format stats. Shaw’s recent post came after an announcement from a Mumbai Cricket Association official, who stated that he was dropped because of questions surrounding his fitness and discipline.
Prithvi Shaw recently had a lacklustre Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament. Even though his club, Mumbai, defeated Madhya Pradesh in the final to win the title, Shaw failed to score more than 200 runs in nine innings. He was consistently dismissed when facing the new ball, and his average was less than 25.
As a result of Shaw’s unsatisfactory responses, additional voices from the MCA expressed that Mumbai would have to field ten players in the competition. A MCA source said, “In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it."
"During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Shaw missed training sessions regularly after showing up at the team hotel at six in the morning, being out for most of the night. Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now. You would be wrong to think such posts on social media would have any impact on the Mumbai selectors and the MCA," the source concluded.
