Rohit Sharma Addresses Retirement Speculations After Ravichandran Ashwin's Sudden Exit
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma addressed the press conference with Ravichandran Ashwin on December 18, Wednesday, after the Gabba Test got drawn. While interacting with the media, Ashwin made an announcement that he is retiring from international cricket; this shocked every cricket fan all over the world. In all these things we also saw that Rohit Sharma is going through a poor form in his career. Now the question arises whether it’s time for him also to retire, as the numbers have not been good at all. When asked about this question, Rohit said that right now his numbers have not been good, but as long as his body and mind are going good, he will keep playing for India.
“I KNOW WHAT’S IN MY MIND, AND I’M PREPARING MYSELF.” – ROHIT SHARMA
Rohit accepted that he is not batting well, but he knows what’s going on in his mind, and he is preparing himself for that. At the moment every box is very much ticked. He also said that till the time his mind, body, and feet are moving well, he will continue to play.
“I have not batted well. There’s no harm in accepting that. But I know what’s in my mind, how I’m preparing myself. All those boxes are very much ticked. It’s just about spending as much time as possible, which I’m pretty sure I’m just there. As long as my mind, my body, and my feet are moving well, I’m pretty happy with how things are playing out for me.”
Further, he also opened up on his batting position and giving up his place to KL Rahul in the team to bat in the opening spot. However, we saw that Rohit is not able to score runs at No. 6.
“Sometimes those numbers can tell you that it’s been a while since he’s got big runs. But for a person like me, I think it’s all about how I feel in my mind, what kind of prep I’m having before each game, and how I’m feeling about myself.”
“That’s the most important thing. And I’m feeling good about myself, to be honest. Runs are obviously not showing that, but inside it’s a different feeling.”
Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to play the fourth Test of the series against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which will kick start on December 26. The skipper and all the players will be trying their best to win the Test and fix their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
