In the ongoing third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 being played at the Gabba, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul played a brilliant 84-run knock with his bat. In this match, India's top-order batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant failed to perform, but Rahul played his role perfectly and played a tremendous knock.

On the fourth day of the match, KL Rahul told about his batting strategy in the press conference. He said that in the first 20-30 overs, it is important to give respect to the bowlers and bat tightly while leaving the balls. Then when the ball gets old, it's time to attack

KL Rahul in the press conference said,

"We have no problem playing on fast and bouncy pitches, but the bowlers have to be respected in the first 20-30 overs. Leave the ball and bat tight and then attack it when the ball is old. That's my Test cricket plan.”

In the Gabba Test, Rahul came in as an opener and made a significant contribution for the Indian team with his brilliant knock. Rahul is one of the highest run-scorers of the Indian team, scoring 231 runs in 5 innings so far. India won the first Test by 295 runs while losing the second match by 10 wickets. Australia currently has the upper hand in the third Test.

KL Rahul beleives that Australia batsman Travis Head seems to be adopting the same strategy. They come out to bat after 30 overs and score big runs.

After Rahul's innings, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also scored 77 runs. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep made a much neded partnership, which helped India avoid the follow-on.

Further, Rahul said that when Bumrah and Akash Deep were batting, he was thinking of getting ready to bat again.

"When Akash Deep and Bumrah were batting, I was thinking that maybe we may have to bat again for the follow-on. But it was nice that our bowlers also contributed.”
