Hazelwood Leaves Field with Injury During Third Test at Gabba

The Australian pacer Josh Hazelwood suffered from a fresh injury in the ongoing third Test on Day 4 at the Gabba. He bowled a single over on December 17, Tuesday, and left the field after bowling that over. After he walked out of the field, Cricket Australia also confirmed that the pacer had picked up a niggle.

Hazelwood returned to the team for the match at the Gabba as he missed the second Test in Adelaide due to a side strain. He bowled the 27th over on Day 4 and didn’t look in good condition. On the very first ball he bowled, he was outside off stump, and KL Rahul took the chance and sent the ball to the boundary. On Day 3 he got to bowl 5 overs, where he took an important wicket of Virat Kohli, which helped the Aussies take over India in the game.

HAZELWOOD’S PERFORMANCE IN THE BGT 2024-25 SO FAR

The pacer has played 2 matches so far and was seen in good form, where he took 6 wickets in 3 innings at an average of 13.17. He replaced Scott Boland in the third Test, who played in his absence in the Adelaide Test.

Cricket.com.au confirmed that Hazelwood was suffering from calf awareness and he would be undergoing medical scans to determine what kind of injury this is. The statement released by them stated that,

“An Australian team spokesperson said he was suffering from ‘calf awareness” with the fast bowler set to undergo medical scans to determine the extent of the injury.” “It puts him in doubt about being able to bowl again in this innings.”

The Aussies managed to take 6 wickets of India for 159 runs. Recently, KL Rahul, who was seen in fine form, got dismissed by Nathan Lyon for 84 runs. The Aussies need just 4 wickets more to take the game on their side.
