Shaheen Afridi Script History, Youngest To Reach 100 T20I Wickets
The Pakistan fast bowler Shahid Afridi has taken three wickets in his four-over spell in the first T20 match against South Africa in Durban on Tuesday. He became the third Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets after Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, giving away only 22 runs. The Proteas team scored 183/9 in 20 overs, all credit goes to David Miller's 82 off 40 balls. He achieved this achievement in his 74th T20I match, becoming the second fastest Pakistani player to achieve this after Haris Rauf, who achieved this in 71 matches.
At the same time he becomes the youngest bowler in the world to achieve 100 wickets across all formats, joining the elite list of Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, and Lasith Malinga.
Afridi became the third fastest bowler in the full-fledged country to take 100 T20I wickets after Haris Rauf (71) and Mark Adair (72).
Afridi also became the fourth bowler to complete 100 wickets in all three formats. The 24-year-old Afridi is also the youngest bowler to achieve this milestone and the only bowler to reach 100 wickets in all formats before the age of 30.
Chasing a target of 184 runs, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer with 74 runs. He hit five fours and three sixes in 62 balls. Babar Azam failed to open his account. Sam Ayub scored 31 runs in 15 balls with the help of seven fours.
