Sunil Gavaskar Predicts Mohammed Siraj New Villain For Australian Fans
The heated argument between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj continues to remain the topic of discussion after the conclusion of the second Test in Adelaide. A verbal, fiery exchange was seen between both the players on Day 2 of the game. Head smashed a six on the ball of Siraj, and on the next ball, the Indian pacer makes a comeback and bowled out the batter on the next ball. Head scored 140 runs off just 141 balls in the second Test. Siraj was seen celebrating his wicket aggressively, and with that, Head was not seen happy. After that, both exchanged a few words on the field, which ended on a poor note.
In the press conference after the day’s play, Head said he jokingly said, ‘Well bowled’ to Siraj, after which the bowler's reaction came. While when Siraj was asked about the same, he said that the Aussie batter was ‘lying’ and ‘abused’ him during that conversation.
"SIRAJ IS GOING TO BE THE VILLIAN" - SUNIL GAVASKAR
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar shared his views on this and said that the Australian fans will target Siraj, and the pacer will have to face all this booing from the audience after this incident.
“Siraj is going to get a bit of spit from the crowd wherever he goes from now on because once the Australians identify somebody who is supposed to be the villain of the piece, then they will get stuck into him. For England, it has been Stuart Broad when he travels; there have been front-page articles encouraging the Australians to boo him when Broad didn’t walk when he edged the ball to slip.”
Further he said that Siraj is going to be the villain and will have to face all. It will be important for the rest of the team to come to his side and tell him that he needs to do his best.
“I think for the Australian side, Siraj is going to be the villain, and he will have to face up to it. It will be important for the rest of the team to come to his side and tell him, ‘Listen. You go out and do your best.”
However, Siraj and Head resolved the misunderstanding the next day during the Adelaide Test. But the thing did not end here; both players have been fined by the ICC for breaching the ICC’s Code of Conduct.
