Yusuf Pathan Backs BCCI's Stance On Not Sending Team India To Pakistan
Former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan supports the decision of the Board of Control in India (BCCI) to not send the Indian team to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy next year. India stood firm on their decision of not sending the team to the neighboring country for the marquee event. Everyone is aware of the political tensions between both countries, and with that, the Indian government did not give clearance to Team India to travel to Pakistan. The most important concern that comes in front of the BCCI and Indian government is about the safety of players.
The 42-year-old player who was part of India’s 2011 World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup-winning teams backs the BCCI for not sending the Indian team to Pakistan. He said that BCCI always thinks about the players and safety, so whatever their decision is, it is in the interest of both players and the nation.
“BCCI always thinks about the players and their safety. So whatever BCCI does is in the interest of the players and the nation.”
While Pakistan also stood firm on their decision about hosting the whole tournament in Pakistan, recent developments show that they are all over on their decision now. The recent developments state that the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reached a stage that they are ready to adopt a hybrid model for tournaments hosted in Pakistan or India until 2027.
This model will allow both nations to play their games at ICC tournaments hosted by the other country at a neutral venue. However, there is no official confirmation of PCB on this topic yet. It is still not made clear whether it would be applied to both men’s and women’s tournaments or only on a single.
