Aakash Chopra Highlights Arshdeep Singh's Importance For PBKS In IPL 2025
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Arshdeep Singh will turn out to be an excellent asset for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. He pointed out that he is very good with new, old ball, after Bumrah he is the only player and is a more potent wicket-taker.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) released Arshdeep Singh and retained only two uncapped players, including Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. They bought him for Rs 18 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In a video shared by Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel, he said that PBKS said at the start that they wanted Arshdeep for Rs 18 crore, and would have spent this much on him while retaining. He is a Punjabi and will remain that only.
“They said at the start that they wanted Arshdeep for Rs 8 crore. They would have spent that much only if they retained him. He is a Punjabi and will remain with the Punjabis, and he is very good.”
“New ball, old ball, Indian fast bowler, if someone is able to do that consistently after Bumrah, it’s Arshdeep. In fact, he has run ahead of even Bumrah in terms of wicket-taking prowess. He remains a little expensive but has run ahead of him because he is a wicket-keeper.”
Further, he stated that Yuzi Chahal for Rs 18 crore was too much as spinners don’t get too much and is very happy because he is India’s best leg spinner.
“Yuzi Chahal - Rs 18 crore. He kept going very far, and we were gobsmacked about how far Yuzi would go. Spinners don’t get that much money. They get it at times, Rashid Khan has been retained for as much, but Rashid Khan is only one. He became very rich - Rs 18 crore. We are very happy because he is India’s best leg-spinner. There is no doubt about that.”
