Prithvi Shaw Goes Unsold in IPL 2025, Parth Jindal Urges Him to Work Hard

Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw is an exceptional batter; there’s no doubt in saying that because of the heights he reached at a very early age in his career. He won the U-19 World Cup as a skipper, which made everyone believe that he will be the next big thing in Indian cricket. The

The 25-year-old batter made his debut in international cricket in 2018 and scored a century against West Indies in the Rajkot Test. At that time he was being compared to Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Virender Sehwag. However, in the few years we got to see his downfall due to many controversies.

In the IPL 2025 mega auction held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Shaw remained unsold in the auction. It was seen that neither a single franchise was interested in bidding for him. Delhi Capitals acquired him in 2018 and retained him ahead of the mega auction in 2022 for Rs 7.5 crore, but due to his poor performance, he was dropped from the playing XI and was released by the franchise last month.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal opened up on Prithvi Shaw's snub in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He said that Shaw is a great kid but needs a jolt and needs to work hard to get back the love he was getting. He also said that he hopes that Shaw will return back to his best form soon.

“Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt. All your life you grow up hearing that you are the special one, you’re the most talented, you’re the only other batter in the world other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to have an MRF bat. That tells you a lot about what everyone thought about him.”

"People calling you Lara, somebody calling you Sachin, someone else calling you the next big thing. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket is talking big about you. I think this is what one jolt Prithvi needed.”

“Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract; he was playing for Mumbai across all formats and was someone starting for DC at least. I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets and get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined.”

Prithvi Shaw has played a total of 79 matches, scoring 1892 runs with an average of 23.95, smashing 14 half-centuries during his IPL career.
