Hardik Pandya to Miss IPL 2025 Opener Due to this reason

Big Blow to Mumbai Indians as BCCI Imposes One-Match Ban on Hardik Pandya

India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has claimed the No. 1 spot in the latest T20I All-Rounder ranking list released by the ICC and has been in headlines since then. However, Mumbai Indians have suffered a major setback before IPL 2025 and so does Hardik Pandya as the veteran All-Rounder will not captain the team in the first match of the 2025 season.

Many fans must be wondering why the BCCI banned him a year ago. The answer to this question is that Hardik was banned after the last match of Mumbai Indians due to slow over rate.

According to the BCCI rules, if a team fails to complete the full overs in limited time, the captain is fined Rs 24 lakh and the rest of the players are fined as well. In case of violation of the third over rate, the skipper has to pay a heavy fine of Rs 30 lakh and the players are also fined.

Mumbai Indians, led by Pandya, failed to complete 20 overs in confirmed time in three matches in the 2024 IPL season, after which the BCCI reprimanded Hardik and imposed a one-match ban on him.

The 2024 IPL season did not go well for the 5-time IPL champions as they finished their season last on the points table. The team will look to make a comeback next year and have a memorable season unlike the last one.
