Big shock for Indian fans as Indian team opener Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the Perth Test due to injury. Shubman got injured during Team India's practice session at WACA. While doing catching practice during slip, a ball hit Shubman's thumb. After the injury, Shubman left the field and did not return. The team management is paying full attention to Gill's recovery but despite this, there is a question mark on Gill's inclusion in the first Test. In the absence of Gill, the Indian team has to choose the right option at number three.

Devdutt Padikkal is Gill's replacement

After the injury of Shubman Gill, the Indian team is looking for options. Opening position is also becoming a big headache for India. India has an opener in the form of Abhimanyu Easwaran. It is yet to be seen that in Rohit's absence, what combination the Indian team will come up with. The Indian team is looking at Devdutt Padikkal as an option for the number three position. Padikkal was involved in the INDIA A and AUSTRALIA A series some time ago. Padikkal is currently in Australia and has been asked to stay back there.
