T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav praised Sanju Samson’s exceptional hard work and dedication, stating that it was one of the important factors for his success. Samson played an extraordinary knock in the first T20I against South Africa on Friday. He smashed 107 runs off 50 balls, which included 7 fours and 10 sixes.

The 29-year-old batter celebrating his milestones reflects how much he was waiting for this. It also describes the strong character he holds, a personality that the Indian team needs.

According to the skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, Samson has a very strong character and has put in a lot of hard work in the past years. When he was near his milestone, he also showed his unwavering commitment towards the team.

“The amount of hard work he has put in over the last few years, doing the boring work, he is eating the fruits of that. He was in the 90s, but still, he was looking for a boundary, playing for the team which shows the character of the man, and that’s what we look for.”

India won by 61 runs, and with that, it maintained its record of being unbeaten in Durban. The Indian skipper admitted that he was not aware of the Durban supremacy.

“Is it? I did not know about that. I just got to know now. We have not changed our brand of cricket in the last 3-4 years, very happy with win.”

Were looking for the crucial wickets of Klaasen and Miller

If Heinrich Klassen and David Miller would have scored runs then it would be difficult for them to defend 203 run. So there wickets were very crucial to win the game.

“That was the plan, we were looking for the crucial wickets of Klaasen and Miller and the way they (spinners) delivered, it was incredible.”

"Don’t need to carry any baggage" - Suryakumar Yadav

In the end, Surya gave credit to the team for showing their fearless attitude towards the game and making the task easier for him.

“Boys have made my job easier. I don’t need to carry any baggage. The way they have been showing that fearless attitude, the boys are enjoying themselves on and off the field, which makes my job easier. The brand of cricket we play, even though we lose a few wickets, we want to play without fear. It’s a T20 game. We know we have 20 overs, but if you can score 200 in 17 overs, why not.”
