Test is a format that requires a lot of patience from the players, apart from good skills and abilities. Batsmen are tested when they are up against quality bowlers. Originally, test cricket was considered a game of patience, but in today’s era, the ‘Bazball’ style of play has been adapted by several teams. Now hitting sixes has become a skillset for batsmen in this long format of the game. In this article, we will have a look at the top 5 batsmen who have hit the most sixes in this format.

5) Jacques Kallis (South Africa): 97 sixes

The former South African All-Rounder Jacques Kallis believed in scoring boundaries in test cricket, as hitting a six was very unlike him. But still, he finished among the top 5 players to hit most sixes in a test. During his 166-match test career, Kallish smashed 97 sixes. He recorded 13289 runs during his career at an average of 55.37.

4) Chris Gayle (West Indies) : 98 sixes

The former West Indies batter Chris Gayle has proved himself to be a destructive batsman in all formats. He played 103 test matches during his career and hit 98 sixes. The Universe Boss scored 7214 runs in 182 innings at an average of 42.18. Gayle has 15 test hundreds to his name.

3) Adam Gilchrist (Australia) – 100 sixes

The former Australian wicketkeeper was an exceptional player and was always consistent in batting. Interestingly, he was the first batsman in cricket history to complete the milestone of smashing 100 or more sixes in test format. Gilchrist was an explosive batter who smashed his record-breaking 100th six in a game against Sri Lanka. He played 96 test matches during his career and scored 5570 runs.

2) Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) – 107 sixes

Brendon McCullum was a flamboyant batsman who had the ability to smash runs from the very first ball. He overtook Adam Gilchrist to become the leading batsman with most sixes in test cricket. The former New Zealand batsman finished his test career with 107 sixes. McCullum scored 6453 runs in 101 test matches in his career, which included 12 hundreds.

1) Ben Stokes (England) – 131 sixes

The English All-rounder Ben Stokes is leading the chart with 131 sixes in 192 test innings. Since the England team started using ‘Bazball’ under their current coach Brendon McCullum, Stokes went on to break the most Test sixes record. Ben Stokes is arguably one of the best all-rounders in cricket history. So far, he has scored 6532 runs in 106 test matches and has 13 test centuries to his name.
