The 56th match of IPL 2025 will be played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Ahead of the match, India captain Rohit Sharma, who plays for Mumbai Indians, was seen giving a special gift to Mohammed Siraj.
A video has been uploaded by the Indian cricket team on its official Twitter handle in which the two players are seen sharing a moment between each other. The duo played a crucial role in helping India win their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados.
Rohit gifted Siraj a special ring to commemorate his T20 World Cup triumph. India's campaign during the T20 World Cup was quite memorable in which they won all matches except one as the match against Canada was cancelled. India won their first T20I World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, beating teams like Pakistan, Australia, Ireland, Afghanistan and South Africa in the final.
The Indian team continued their momentum in the Champions Trophy after the T20 World Cup, where they went undefeated to beat New Zealand in the final to clinch their second ICC title under Rohit's captaincy. Now in the current IPL, both players would like to perform well for their respective franchises. While Rohit has regained his form while opening for Mumbai Indians, Siraj has done a lot of strong ever since moving to Gujarat.
This evening, both teams will be face-to-face in an exciting match and will try to win, so that they can increase their chances of staying in the playoffs and stay in the top two. Finishing as one of the top two will give those teams a chance to enter the final directly.
Mumbai Indians have regained their form by winning six consecutive matches. However, with wins in 7 out of 10 matches, Gujarat is also in great form and can give a tough challenge to Mumbai. Siraj was unable to make it to the national team after the defeat at BGT, so he also has a chance to prove himself. Rohit had made a bold comment that Siraj does not perform well with the old ball and with the return of the use of saliva in the IPL, Siraj will be looking to show some good reverse-swing skills to move up in his rankings.
