In the 54th match of IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Punjab won by 37 runs. The match was played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. Lucknow won the toss and invited Punjab to bat. Punjab set a target of 236 runs in 20 overs. Chasing this big target, Lucknow's team lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored only 199 runs. The win over Lucknow on Sunday was Punjab's first IPL win in Dharamsala after their 50-run win against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2013.
During that match in 2013, former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist was the captain of Punjab. Out of the 14 matches played in Dharamsala so far, Punjab have won only six and in the first five matches, Gilchrist was the captain of Punjab.
During the post-match presentation, Shreyas Iyer said, "Very happy to be honest. Everyone stepped in at the right time. Each person's contribution was huge. Prabhsimran – The way he performed today was extraordinary. All the shots played were eye-catching."
When Iyer was asked about Punjab's poor IPL record at the HPCA Stadium, he said, "I am glad that I did not know about it. I go out there to win games, that was my mindset. We have been lucky so far, luck has been on our side because of the hard work and commitment shown. Everyone steps at the right time, every person knows their role properly. The only thing we need to fix is awareness and the way to move forward on the field. Just trust yourself and your instincts and don't think too much about the stats and what you can get out of it. Results matter and that's winning. "
