Rahul Dravid Ditches Wheelchair to Applaud Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Record IPL Century

Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid got up from the wheelchair to greet 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi on his brilliant century. Vaibhav broke the record for the fastest Indian century in IPL by scoring a century in 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. With his innings, Rajasthan achieved the target of 210 runs with 25 balls remaining.

Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid is currently recovering from an injury and is using a wheelchair. On Monday, when 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan scored a century against Gujarat Titans, Rahul got up from his wheelchair to applaud him.  

In the 47th match of IPL 2025 on Monday, the 14-year-old left-hander scored a brilliant century in 35 balls and contributed significantly to the team's big chase of 210 runs. Vaibhav completed his half-century in just 17 balls and then completed his century in the 10th over with a six off Rashid Khan.

After Vaibhav's achievement, Rahul Dravid and his support staff gave him a standing ovation. Dravid was injured while playing cricket in Bengaluru some time ago and has been travelling with Rajasthan Royals during his recovery.

Vaibhav set many records during his innings. He became the youngest player to score a half-century in T20Is. His 35-ball century is the fastest century scored by an Indian in IPL history. In 2009, Yusuf Pathan scored a century in 37 balls against Mumbai Indians, Vaibhav has surpassed this record. In all the IPL seasons, only Chris Gayle has scored the fastest century. He scored a century in 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.

Talking about Vaibhav's innings, he scored 101 runs in 38 balls, which included 7 fours and 11 sixes. He also shared a 166-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal in 11.5 overs. His brilliant feat came to an end when he was clean bowled by Prasidh Krishna. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 70 off 40 balls. Rajasthan chased down the target with 25 balls to spare and won the match by eight wickets.
