6 Girl students crushed under bus at Pratapnagar, in Haryana

Yamunanagar Bus Accident: On Thursday morning, an incident took place in Pratapnagar, Yamunagar district of Haryana. Several students were crushed by the bus while trying to board during a rush, that lead to a tragic incident where six female students got crushed under the bus. The wheel’s of vehicle passed over them resulting one student’s abdomen completely crushed and others were injured badly.

The incident occurred around 8 AM in the Pratapnagar bus stand, where numerous students were waiting to board a transport to their schools and colleges. According to the eyewitness,  when the bus from Paonta sahib to Delhi arrived, it was not fully stopped when the passengers tried to board. As the bus turned suddenly, it jolted several girls beneath its wheel.

The injured students were identified as Amandeep, Archita and Anjali from Pratapnagar, Aarti from Kutipur, Muskan from Tibbi, Sanjana from Bahadurpur. Most of the casualty were initially taken to the Pratapnagar Community Health Centre (CHC) for their treatment and later they all were referred to Yamunagar Civil Hospital.

Three students including Aarti, Anjali, and Archita got serious injuries in which the abdomen of Arti got crushed by the wheel. The patients were forced to transfer to Yamunanagar due to lacking of X-ray facilities. whereas, many parents chose to took their to private hospitals for better treatment.

Archita, who is a third semester B.Tech student form the GMIT college, said “the driver started the bus immediately meanwhile the students were trying to board the vehicle, and this confusion caused 8-19 girls to fall and the rear wheel ran over them” She said. on other side Anjali a final-year BCA student from DAV College, said that ‘there are very less buses on the route which is risk for the passengers.” she is blaming the negligence of the driver for this incident.

Protest at the Bus Stand

Due to the incident, the students clocked the buses form leaving the Pratapnagar district. the protest continues for two hours, whereas some officials including SHO Nar Singh and Sub-Inspector Kanwarpal tried to pacify them. this incident brings forward the issue of less transportation in some rural routes including Chhikan and Khillonwala.

Bus Driver Anil, stated that the students hassle lead to the accident. Anil and the conductor Kamal both were detained and the SHO Nar Singh  admitted that they would undergo through medical tests. Parents present on the site said that over 300 students had to gather at the bus stand daily and buses are so less. And the private cabs charge around ₹2,000 a month, while travelling in  government bus is free for the girls. Apart from the DAV Girl College, none of the other rother college provides its own bus service which results the girls to rely on public transport.
