Ukhrul District Tension: A new government was formed in Manipur after the lifting of President’s rule, but situation has once again become tense. Militants set fire to several houses in villages around Litan in Ukhrul district overnight. The situation remains tense in the affected areas, but has largely been brought under control. A joint control room has been set up at the Litan police station to coordinate immediate security measures, and senior officers are camping in the area to closely monitor the ground situation.

Police further stated that the law and order situation in the state remained normal during the past 24 hours. Security forces continued to conduct search operations and control areas in border and sensitive areas of the districts, and recovered weapons and ammunition.

A day earlier, security forces recovered a .303 rifle, a magazine, two 12-bore single-barrel guns, four 9mm pistols, and 36 hand grenades from the Ngarou Chengel hill range near Nongdam village under the Lamlai police station in Imphal East district. Extensive intelligence-based search, cordon, and search operations are being conducted to apprehend those involved in extortion and other criminal activities.

Manipur Police have arrested three active members of the KCP (Apunba) from various places in Imphal West and Imphal East districts in connection with bomb blast in Lilong Chajing area under Singjamei police station in Imphal West district of Manipur.
Arrested persons have been identified as Laishram Bulu Singh (39), Puyamacha David (22) and Ningthoujam Chalamba Singh (29). Police recovered a four-wheeler, a 45mm pistol with one magazine and 17 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a wallet containing cash and Aadhar cards and other incriminating items from their possession.
