Republic Day Parade 2026: India marks its 77th Republic Day today, as the nation unites in pride and patriotism to celebrate the adoption of its Constitution and the spirit of its democracy. The grand ceremony at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path will be presided over by President Droupadi Murmu, with distinguished chief guests — President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen — gracing the occasion.
This year’s celebrations promise a vibrant spectacle, blending the 150-year legacy of Vande Mataram with India’s remarkable developmental strides, formidable military strength, and breathtaking cultural diversity. From tradition to transformation, the event highlights the enthusiastic participation of citizens from every corner of the country, reflecting the dynamic and inclusive spirit of a modern India.
Republic Day Parade Timing
The Republic Day parade will commence at 10:30 a.m. and is expected to last around 90 minutes. The proceedings will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial, where he will lay a wreath in tribute to the fallen heroes. He will then be joined by other dignitaries at the Saluting Platform on Kartavya Path to witness the parade.
In keeping with tradition, the national flag will be unfurled, followed by the singing of the national anthem and a 21-gun salute fired from the indigenously developed 105 mm Light Field Gun.
The parade will formally get underway with the President’s salute. Commanding the parade will be Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, a second-generation Army officer. He will be assisted by Major General Navraj Dhillon, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Delhi Area, a third-generation Army officer, who will serve as the second-in-command.

Republic Day Parade 2026
A total of 30 tableaux, representing 17 States/Union Territories and 13 Ministries/Departments/Services, will participate in the Republic Day parade based on the overarching theme of ‘Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram’ and ‘Mantra of Prosperity: Self-reliant India’. These tableaux will present a unique blend of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram and the rapid progress made on the back of increasing self-reliance in various sectors, steeped in the rich and vibrant cultural diversity of the country.
Republic Day Military Parade
The world will also witness the might of India’s indigenous lethal weapons. The Dhanush Gun System and the Amogh Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) will be showcased, along with a powerful display of long-range accuracy and tremendous firepower through the supersonic BrahMos weapon and the indigenous Suryastra Universal Rocket Launcher System. Also in sync with the marching contingent, there will be a thrilling fly-past by 2 Rafales, 2 MiG-29s, 2 Su-30s and 1 Jaguar in the ‘Spearhead’ formation, symbolising the Sindoor Formation.
Operation Sindoor Republic Day
The tri-services joint tableau will depict “Operation Sindoor: Jointness to Victory,” representing the collective strength, unity and integration of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force in defence of national sovereignty. The tableau showcases India’s resolve to deliver decisive response through coordinated planning, joint execution and seamless coordination in all domains of warfare.
