Republic Day 2026: On Republic Day, India not only displayed its military prowess and rich cultural heritage but also conveyed a powerful message of democratic strength and spiritual legacy to the world. The celebrations were made especially meaningful by the participation of revered Buddhist monks from more than 40 countries in the Republic Day parade.
Republic Day 2026: Second Global Buddhist Summit
This year’s festivities also marked the conclusion of the Second Global Buddhist Summit in New Delhi. As distinguished guests of the Government of India, the international monks witnessed the ceremonial parade along the Path of Duty and expressed deep admiration for India’s military discipline, cultural diversity, and vibrant democratic ethos.
The occasion underscored India’s historic role as a unifying force in a divided world during the Cold War. Today, as global uncertainties resurface, India continues to draw strength from its people, democratic values, and enduring commitment to compassion and harmony. The striking visuals of Buddha statues and the Ashoka Pillar along the Path of Duty stood out as powerful symbols of India’s Buddhist heritage and its timeless message of peace.
Reflecting on the event, the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) posted on social media platform X: “India’s strength lies in its democracy and spiritual depth. Monks from across the world have gathered today to bless India on the occasion of its 77th Republic Day. The sight of the Buddha and the Ashoka Pillar on the Path of Duty is truly magnificent. On behalf of the International Buddhist Confederation, we extend our heartfelt greetings to everyone on the 77th Republic Day. Jai Hind, Namo Buddhaya.”
