Reassuring families, he stated that the Punjab government stands firmly with them during this difficult time and is committed to extending every possible assistance through diplomatic and administrative channels to ensure the safe and early return of those affected.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann says Campaign broke Drug Supply Network, calls it Biggest Crackdown in Punjab’s History
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today congratulated the people of Punjab on the successful completion of one year of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, calling it a decisive and historic step towards freeing the state from the menace of drugs.
On the occasion of the first anniversary of this mass movement launched by the Punjab government, the Chief Minister said that this campaign has completely changed the direction of the fight against drugs in Punjab and has effectively dismantled the drug supply network.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said, “The War Against Drugs campaign has been the biggest action ever taken against the drug network in Punjab. Previous governments patronised the drug trade, ruining generations in the state. On the other hand, the Punjab government has broken the backbone of the drug trade by disrupting the supply lines and putting behind bars the big fish involved in this heinous crime.”
Highlighting the impact and scope of this campaign, the Chief Minister said that a comprehensive and multi-pronged strategy was adopted to transform this campaign against drugs into a mass movement with the active support of the common people. He stated that a zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace was implemented from March 2025 to February 2026.
Detailing the actions taken under this campaign, the Chief Minister said that a total of 36,178 FIRs were registered against drug traffickers and 51,648 traffickers were arrested. Additionally, 2,277 kilograms of heroin were seized, and over 4.9 million narcotic pills and capsules were recovered.

He further stated that drug money worth ₹16.70 crore has been recovered from drug traffickers, and properties worth crores of rupees belonging to traffickers have been seized or demolished. The overall conviction rate under the NDPS Act has been approximately 84 percent, which has steadily improved to approximately 88 percent in 2025. This is a testament to strong case preparation and forensic support.
Chief Minister said that, unlike previous governments, the current government will not allow drug traffickers to flourish at the expense of the bodies and funeral pyres of drug victims. He clarified that exemplary and strict action has been ensured against drug smugglers.
Reiterating the Punjab Government’s resolve, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed that this fight is to save the young generation of Punjab, and it will continue without any interruption.
