Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal today inaugurated projects worth ₹75 crore for the renovation and development of the Shri Kali Mata Temple, Patiala. Speaking on the occasion, the two leaders said the temple is not only a center of religious faith but also an important symbol of Punjab’s cultural and historical identity.
Punjab News: Project will be completed in one year

Addressing the gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said that previous governments neglected such public welfare projects, but now the Aam Aadmi Party government is prioritizing such projects. He said that with the blessings of Mother Goddess, this project will be completed within a year.
Kejriwal stated that the Shri Kali Mata Temple is one of the most prominent and ancient temples in northern India, symbolizing Punjab’s rich spiritual heritage. The temple complex houses two major shrines, those of Kali Mata and Shri Raj Rajeshwari Ji, which enhance its religious and architectural significance. He stated that the temple receives approximately 10,000 devotees daily, approximately 40,000 on Saturdays, and approximately 100,000 during Navratri.

Some of the major projects launched by the state government are:

- Bringing water from the Bhakra Canal to supply clean water to the lake – ₹1.15 crore
- Upgradation of sewerage and stormwater drainage system – ₹49 lakh
- Establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinic – ₹25 lakh
- Organising light and sound shows – ₹6.78 crore
- New lift system – ₹15 lakh
- Construction of new path and corridor for devotees
- Starting of langar service every day, which will provide convenience to the devotees coming from far away places.
Culture and faith are our identity: CM Mann

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the project aims to enhance the temple’s spirituality and historical beauty. He stated that the Sarovar will be thoroughly cleaned, desilted, waterproofed, and stonework will be carried out along its edges to enhance its grand appearance. The Chief Minister stated that a token system, similar to the one at the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, will be implemented to ensure smooth distribution of prasad and the movement of devotees. Additionally, the Sangat Hall will be converted into an air-conditioned hall to allow elderly, women, and differently-abled devotees to have darshan comfortably.
Special attention to the convenience of devotees

The Chief Minister stated that a 300-vehicle parking facility, a new entrance, and cleaner pathways are being constructed within the temple complex. A queue management system, barricades, and signage will also be installed to assist pilgrims during peak days. He added that a comprehensive master plan is being prepared with the help of experts, focusing on heritage conservation, traffic management, sanitation, and pilgrimage facilities.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further stated that the state government is fully committed to preserving Punjab’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He said, “It is our responsibility to pass on our glorious history to the new generation and develop the Shri Kali Mata Temple as an icon of Punjab.” Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and AAP leader Manish Sisodia were also present on the occasion.
