Punjab News: Allegations that former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi paid ₹500 crore to become Chief Minister have sparked a major controversy in national politics. Aam Aadmi Party’s national media in-charge, Anurag Dhanda, raised the issue on Tuesday, stating that while allegations of MLAs being bought and sold were common in the Congress party, this is the first time that buying and selling of the Chief Minister’s post has come to light. According to him, this is the reason for immense tension and infighting within Punjab Congress.

Anurag Dhanda also levelled serious allegations against Haryana Congress. He claimed that entire Congress party in Haryana has been bought and that senior state leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has handed over the people’s mandate to the BJP. He alleged that real contest in Haryana was between BJP and Congress, but the BJP “managed” Congress leaders to its advantage, which is why BJP was able to return to power in the state.

Punjab News Today: New controversy emerges over allegations against Channi

Dhanda said that conflicting statements are emerging from within the Congress party in Punjab. Some are claiming that Channi paid ₹500 crore to secure CM post, while others mention ₹350 crore. He stated that this proves that in the Congress, not only MLAs but even Chief Minister’s post can be decided by money. According to him, it is the responsibility of the opposition to question the government; however, instead of fighting against the ruling party, Congress leaders often compromise with those in power.

Congress-BJP have a tacit agreement

Anurag Dhanda alleged that the Congress and the BJP have a kind of understanding between them. According to him, the Congress helps the BJP win elections in various states, and in return, the BJP ensures that no action is taken against prominent Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

He said that despite the existence of investigation reports in several cases, no raids or strict action are taken against these leaders. He says that if central government wanted to, a large amount of cash could be recovered during raids, but this doesn’t happen because of a “deal” between the two parties.

Questions raised about Rahul Gandhi

Dhanda also said that Rahul Gandhi stayed in Leader of the Opposition’s official residence for a long time without actually being Leader of the Opposition. According to him, this wouldn’t have been possible without BJP’s permission or support. He claimed that people of Haryana are now beginning to understand this “politics of compromise.”
